Beauty Buzzwords : a glossary of all things glossy

In a world of short-lived cycles, it’s difficult to keep track of the trends flooding our feeds. From skinalism to slugging, there is always a new word to describe the newest beauty trend. Many times, it’s difficult to differentiate between what really works and the latest fad. But don’t worry, we’re here to help. Here’s your guide to the all the trends that matter.
Underpainting: it’s as simple as it sounds- painting under your foundation. Instead of starting with foundation, underpainting starts with contour, blush, and under-eye highlight, with foundation being the last base step. Doing so makes your contour look more natural and blurred.

Pali Verdict : Works! Underpainting makes you look more sculpted, and reduces any muddiness contour can cause. The blush under foundation also gives a natural glow. Pali’s Cream Blush is perfect for this, as it layers beautifully with other products!

Pink powder : Pink setting powder has been popular lately, and many claim that it creates a more luminous, brighter under-eye. It does so through light-level colour correction.
Pali Verdict : Halfway works. Pink Setting powder is great for people with cooler undertones, and creates a brighter look. However, it may not have the same effect for those with different undertones.

Blush blindness : More prominent blush has become increasingly popular in the past few years. As a result, the term “blush blindness” was coined- when people are so used to their heavy blush application, they keep adding more, and don’t realise it’s too much.

Toasty Makeup : You’ve definitely heard of this one- it’s soared in popularity recently. But, it was popular even before the fancy name. Toasty makeup is essentially combining toasted caramel and copper tones to bring warmth to the face, without looking heavy handed. Think lots of bronzer, warm smoky eyeshadow, terracotta blush. It’s a look that’s become a cult classic over the years, now rebranded. Our liquid eyeshadow in shade Copper Catharsis is perfect for this. Swipe a bit onto your lids and blend it out for a crease-proof, toasty look that lasts all day.
Sunset blush : Another blush trend! And we think this one is really cute. Sunset blush is exactly what it sounds like- the colours of the evening sky on your cheeks. And it’s super easy to achieve! Simply pick three shades of cream blush, one orange, one pink, one red. Then, start with the red high up on your cheekbone, the pink just under it, and the orange on your cheeks. Blend them all out, and you’re done! Our cream blush is perfect for this- buildable, and super blendable. We recommend shades Rosy Reinvention, Pink POV, and Coral Crush.

There you have it! Your guide to the newest trends, terms and fads. At Pali, we believe trends should enhance your look, not dictate them. After all, the best look is the one that is authentically you. Filter out the noise, and keep what feels real.
